NOTICE: After installing software, the following steps MUST be followed to allow all modules to shut down properly for proper operation: 1) Cycle the key twice. 2) Lock the car. 3) Let the car sit for 15 minutes. 4) Turn on the vehicle and enjoy. Only use fuel equal to or higher than specified. Never use a lower octane fuel. Always follow our fuel guide, especially with race fuel and Ethanol, where available. Dynos are for reference only. Results will vary. Contributing factors include the vehicle condition, vehicle setup, dyno type, dyno setup, environmental factors, fuel quality, and more. When describing fuels, the North American Region (NAR) uses the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), (RON+MON)/2, or (R+M)/2. The Rest of the World (ROW) uses RON. Driving Modes, Features, and Safety

Driving Modes - We’ve optimized boost, fueling, ignition, cams, and more to achieve greater power and torque in Normal, Sport, and Sport+ modes, while Wet-mode retains factory output levels for maximum safety, stability, and grip.

Features - In Sport Plus mode we’ve reduced turbo lag during reapplication of the throttle by building boost while off the throttle. We’ve raised the free-rev limit in neutral. We’ve optimized launch control, improving launches. The exhaust flap was recalibrated to reduce back-pressure and create turbo spool characteristics. Many other features, such as break boosting, left-foot braking, speed limiters, and more that are common modifications on other platforms are already present from the factory on this ECU.

Safety - With many customers tracking their Porsche, safety is paramount in our calibration strategy. Through the use of extreme datalogging equipment and additional sensors, thermocouples, and transducers, our engineers were able to fully optimize the ECU for advanced safety routines. This includes implementing several routines not enabled from the factory. The entire thermal management system is optimized to reduce engine bay temperature, and reduce intake air temperature, while also implementing advanced protection routines to prevent oil temperature from achieving unsafe levels. The exhaust crackles disable when temperature thresholds are crossed, and are only enabled in sport mode. Next, we help protect the engine from LSPI by preventing the engine from being lugged out in tall gears. We also protect the turbo from damaging compressor surge, and add in turboshaft overspeed protection. We’ve enabled new temperature protection routines to prevent the engine, exhaust, and other components from overheating, and have implemented temperature management strategies that are fully mindful of the platform’s limited fueling capabilities. We’ve calibrated torque delivery to be mindful of the transmission. We’ve optimized the injection strategy to not only deliver a fatter torque curve and better spool, but to reduce the chances of knock, and torque dips. This is also achieved alongside per cylinder ignition advance and fuel trimming. Serious track enthusiasts should consider running race fuel, and adding additional coolant and charge air cooling upgrades for maximum performance.

APR ECU Upgrade Stages

APR’s ECU Upgrades support various octanes both with or without any hardware modifications. Each stage is fully compatible with an upgraded intake, intercooler, exhaust, or other minor bolt on modifications. Unlike many platforms, no additional software tweaks are required to properly utilize a high flow race exhaust system as the factory system poses minimal restriction.

APR Stage 1

The APR Stage 1 ECU Upgrade is the first step towards making more power! This simple upgrade requires no engine hardware modifications, and produces 446-517 HP with 439-525 FT-LBS of torque, depending on octane. Gains as high as +83-161 WHP with +100-187 WFT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band. To get more power, the vehicle can be outfitted with an upgraded intake, cooling, or exhaust system.

APR Stage 1 is available for 91 AKI, 93 AKI, 100 AKI, 104 AKI, and E60-E85 fuel grades in North America, and 95 RON, 98 RON, 104 RON, 108 RON, and E60-E85 in the Rest of the World.

Please note, our E85 software is not a full flex fuel program. In this mode the engine is only designed to work on E85, as found directly at the pump, including both summer and winter blends from E60-E85. Using traditional pump fuels in this mode may result in engine damage. Do not manually blend with traditional pump fuel or race fuels or use race specific barrels of E85. To ensure proper E85 content levels, APR recommends using an E85 content sensor. Before using Ethanol, educate yourself and follow our switching guide.

APR Plus

The APR Plus ECU Upgrade is the first step towards making more power, and it includes our limited powertrain warranty. This simple upgrade requires no engine hardware modifications, and produces 446 HP with 439 FT-LBS of torque. Gains as high as +83 WHP and +100 WFT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band, making the vehicle exceptionally quicker in all scenarios.

The APR Plus ECU Upgrade matches the performance of our Stage 1 ECU Upgrade (91 octane). To get even more power, you can add any of our other Stage 1 compatible products and still be covered under the APR Plus warranty! If you're not interested in the APR Plus limited powertrain warranty, and want even more power, check out our other Stages.

APR Stage 3

The APR Stage 3 ECU Upgrade is the next step towards making more power! This simple upgrade requires Carrera S/GTS turbochargers and produces 530-627 HP with 506-533 FT-LBS of torque, depending on octane. Gains as high as +138-195 WHP with +166-234 WFT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band.

To ensure proper E85 content levels, APR recommends using an E85 content sensor. Before using Ethanol, educate yourself and follow our switching guide.

Porsche Rear Engine Dyno Testing Notes - This engine is extremely sensitive to intake air temperature (IAT) due to the rear engine and rear cooling design. Power figures on a stationary dyno will vary wildly with limited airflow compared to real world conditions. As IAT increases the calibration will intentionally reduce power to protect the engine.

The APR Difference

Who we are - We’re a global automotive engineering firm nestled in Opelika, Alabama. Our 80,000ft² state-of-the-art facility is home to some of the best engineers in the industry, who have mastered hundreds of engine management systems. We have multiple engine and chassis dynos, and the resources necessary to create our ECU Upgrades in-house, from the ground up! We're not a new company either. We've been around since the 90's and we have a strong financial backing to ensure we'll be here to support you for decades to come!

What we do - We optimize everything to make your engine more powerful. We adjust air-fuel ratios, advance ignition, increase boost pressure, alter cam positions and lift profiles, and more, all depending on the type of engine and management system, of course! We don’t take shortcuts, and we don’t take risks. We do it the right way.

How we differ - With our proprietary calibration and direct ram access data logging tools and operating system code changes, we’re able to make some of the strongest and fastest ECU upgrades, without needing costly end user adjustments.
