Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Manager

Position Summary: The Engineering Technician position assists Engineers in the design, development and installation of new performance products for APR

Qualifications required:

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Automotive Technology Degree or equivalent related experience
  • At least 3 years of previous experience as a certified VAG Technician

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Ability to project completion timelines and hit deadlines
  • Complete repairs in accordance with all VAG and product manufacture guidelines
  • Maintain special tools, test equipment and APR fleet vehicles
  • Perform vehicle mechanical, electrical and technical diagnosis and repair
  • Support other departments when a specific skill set can be utilized
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment
  • Look for opportunities for innovation within our current product offering and communicate those ideas.
  • Conduct tests and collect data to assist engineering efforts
  • Product and prototype removal and installation
  • Other assigned tasks and duties as required

Success factors/job competencies:

  • In depth knowledge of VAG automotive systems, functionality and diagnosis
  • Strong knowledge of VAG drivetrains and other vehicles systems
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands:  The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to feel objects and type on keyboard or work controls. This position operates and drives vehicles frequently.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: Work is regularly performed in a manufacturing environment as well as a shop and office environment.  The noise levels can vary from light to medium levels.
  • Expected Hours of Work:  This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm and overtime as needed and possible travel.

Final candidate must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
