APR’s Audi S4 Returns for Round 4 of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Virginia International Raceway With Further Refinement by APR’s Engineering Team

APR Motorsport - Barber Motorsport Park - 2010

Racing a new car is always a difficult process and the learning curve is made even steeper when you are the first one in the world to race that car. Despite these challenges, the APR Motorsport Audi S4 has had 2 top 5 qualifying efforts in only three races and at the last event at Barber, the S4 ran in the top 3 positions until the half way point of the race when teething problems struck once again. In the downtime between Barber and this Saturday’s Round 4 at VIR, APR’s engineering and motorsport departments have been hard at work continuing the development of the new chassis in search of reliability. Barber’s strong showing, with Jordan Taylor advancing to 2nd by the first pit and driver change, ended in disappointment for the team when at the very beginning of Ian Baas’ charge to the podium, the S4 experienced a mechanical failure ending the race.

APR Motorsport’s teams of engineers and motorsport staff poured over the data from the Audi S4 and have developed reliability enhancements inspiring confidence in the chances for a podium at VIR in only its 4th race. Jeff Mishtawy, APR Director of Motorsport explains, “The last two races, we’ve really been able to show our speed. The crew has got the car working extremely well now and I’m really excited about our prospects for Saturday’s race.’

The car is not the only thing that has been developed during the season; the driver lineup has evolved as well. Jordan Taylor will once again be pairing Ian Baas and this time around it will be exciting to see Ian take his turn after the handoff from Jordan. “I really enjoyed working with Jordan, he was a perfect fit with the team and his performance was outstanding, I’m excited to be working with him again at VIR, our time for a win is near!” said Baas.

Jordan will be working overtime for the second race in a row as he pulls double duty on Saturday, finishing his stint in the Rolex race and immediately heading to the Audi for the Continental race. At Barber, Taylor drove both races on the same day for the first time and finished both stints in 2nd place, earning a spot on the Rolex podium that he had to miss to join the start of the race in the S4. “I absolutely can’t wait for Saturday. After such a great experience last weekend, I am really looking forward to the unique challenge of going from car to car again. Another opportunity for Ian and I to team up is sure to make for a great race, Go APR!”

In addition to the Audi effort in the Grand Sport class, APR Motorsport will be competing once again in the Street Tuner class with their 3 VW DriverGear Volkswagen GTi’s. Looking for their 3rd top 10 in ST, APR Motorsport goes for victory in both classes at the beautiful Virginia International Raceway.
